SMALL ISLANDS STATES CONFERENCE:

The United Nations Global Conference on the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States will be held from 25 April to 6 May 1994 in Bridgetown, Barbados. While it does not specifically address the issue of high seas fisheries, the Conference will tackle the related problems of coastal communities and traditional fisheries likely to be affected by the outcome of this Conference. Look for possible work at this Conference on the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fishing, particularly in relation to the integration of fisheries within coastal management schemes.
