DENMARK:

In May 1993, the Danish Parliament unanimously approved the ratification of the Convention and the country is presently elaborating a national biodiversity conservation strategy. As part of its follow-up to UNCED, Denmark will gradually increase its ODA funding by 50% (from 1 to 1.5% of GNP) until the year 2002 and hopes this initiative will inspire other developed nations in the same direction. Funds will be devoted to both bilateral and multilateral projects, including the GEF.
