NEW ZEALAND:

Having ratified the Convention in September 1993, New Zealand is currently engaged in an informed and participatory process to establish a national strategy on biodiversity. As an island nation, isolation enhanced its biodiversity as well as its vulnerability to foreign species. In order to ward against these foreign species, New Zealand passed a Biosecurity Act this year.
