UNESCO:

As a follow-up to UNCED, UNESCO is emphasizing biodiversity as one of four cross-sectoral priority themes for research and training. UNESCO is committed to improving knowledge and monitoring of biodiversity through various programmes, including the international network of Biosphere Reserves as well as elaborating country studies and national action plans.
