13th Meeting of the Monaco Blue Initiative

The 13th Meeting of the Monaco Blue Initiative discussed:

  • the need for a new bold vision for Ocean conservation, including raising ambition in the face of emerging challenges;
  • how to build on best practices and success stories in Ocean conservation to scale up the sustainable blue economy; and
  • ways to channel and scale up blue finance to accelerate the transition to an Ocean-positive economy.

The Monaco Blue Initiative, founded in 2010 by HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco, is a platform that brings together major players in the Ocean sector to discuss current and future challenges of Ocean management and conservation.  It convenes annually in the framework of Monaco Ocean Week, which includes debate, analysis, and awareness raising to better understand the challenges facing the Ocean. It is co-organized by the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco, the Prince Albert I of Monaco Foundation, and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

The 13th Meeting of the Monaco Blue Initiative convened 21 March 2022. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this meeting was held in a hybrid format, with delegates attending in person in Monaco and online.

The Monaco Blue Initiative is co-organized by the Oceanographic Institute – Prince Albert I of Monaco Foundation and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
