As part of the Third UN Ocean Conference, the Blue Economy and Finance Forum brought together stakeholders from the public, business, banks, insurance companies, and philanthropies, to share their experiences and analyze how to scale up solutions to restore the Ocean’s health.
69th Meeting of the GEF Council
Through the “family” of GEF trust funds, Council Members approved over USD 250 million in funding for projects and programs targeting biodiversity, climate change, land degradation, chemicals and waste, and shared marine and freshwater ecosystems issues. Talks occurred in the shadow of recently commenced negotiations for the GEF’s ninth replenishment period, which many expect will be challenging due to shifting geopolitics and donor priorities.
8th Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR2025)
This meeting will feature discussions on financing disaster risk reduction, which may touch on countries’ agreement at the Dubai Climate Change Conference to operationalize the Loss and Damage Fund.

Ahead of the 69th Meeting of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council, over 200 participants gathered online for the GEF Secretariat and Council Members’ consultation with civil society organizations (CSOs) on the theme, “Operationalizing the GEF Whole of Society Approach: Enhancing engagement and support to Civil Society in GEF-9.”

The Sixth Global Conference on Climate and SDG Synergies sought to feed into the upcoming third round of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement, where countries express their climate action plans for achieving the goals of the Agreement.
