Stockholm+50
Amid a global pandemic and a triple planetary crisis of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss, there was a renewed sense of urgency around “implementation, implementation, implementation” at the Stockholm+50 conference, predicated on fairness and inclusion.
Global Launch – Tracking SDG7: The Energy Progress Report 2022 and SDG7 Policy Briefs 2022
Speakers observed that these publications arrive at the half-way mark of the 2030 Agenda, as the world struggles to achieve the SDGs and the Paris Agreement on climate change, as well as grappling with COVID-19 challenges and the “triple crisis” for food, energy and financing caused by the Ukraine crisis. Marie-Louise Koch Wegter, Permanent Mission of Denmark to the UN and Co-Chair of Group of Friends of Sustainable Energy, invited everyone to “act” after reading the 2022 publications.
4th Global Session of the of the UN Science-Policy-Business Forum on the Environment (UN-SPBF 2022)
Faced with the triple crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, participants addressed a range of issues dealing with multilateralism, including climate change, and future economic frameworks, before turning to issues that affect the daily fabric of our lives—technology, fashion, and supply chains. Leaders also shared share their vision for Stockholm+100.
Ad hoc Open-ended Working Group to Prepare for the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to End Plastic Pollution
Governments took the first steps toward a new international treaty on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment, as they set out the schedule of negotiations and rules of procedure, and convened multi-stakeholder dialogues on the scope of the plastics pollution problem.
7th Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2022)
GP2022 urged the need to "think resilience" in our disaster risk reduction strategies, attracting more funding for disaster preparedness and aligning efforts with climate initiatives while leaving no one behind.
Rio Conventions Pavilion at UNCCD COP 15
The Rio Conventions Pavilion, supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), sought to contribute to this effort through a series of events which aimed to increase ambition to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement on climate change, restore and maintain healthy landscapes, and establish a post-2020 global biodiversity framework to halt biodiversity loss.
17th Session of the UNFF
Meeting in person for the first time since 2019, governments adopted a two-year roadmap of actions on forest policy issues, while recognizing the importance of forests in combatting climate change, biodiversity loss, and disaster risk reduction—and providing people with food, water, wood products, vital medicines, shelter, jobs, and security.
15th Session of the Conference of the Parties of the UNCCD (COP 15)
Following two weeks of high-level discussions and negotiations, delegates adopted 38 decisions to improve drought resilience, reduce land degradation, invest in land restoration efforts, and improve synergies with the climate change and biodiversity conventions.

The launch of the UN-Energy Plan of Action and the Energy Compact Action Network aimed to build on the 200 voluntary commitments made by countries, organizations, and businesses in September at the UN High-level Dialogue on Energy.
