CGRFA-11 HIGHLIGHTS The final day of CGRFA-11 opened with discussion of the draft MYPOW. Working from a table of "major outputs and milestones in the Commission's MYPOW," prepared by the Secretariat, delegates considered the sessions of the Commission - between the twelfth and sixteenth regular sessions - at which matters relating to the categories of work under the MYPOW should be addressed. Except for a section concerning biotechnology, delegates reached general agreement on the schedule. Still on the MYPOW, they then addressed an analysis of the human and financial resources available within the FAO to support work on the various sectors of genetic resources for food and agriculture, and on streamlining the operations of the Commission for implementation of the MYPOW. Delegates returned briefly to the agenda items concerning plant and animal genetic resources in the afternoon, considering nominations for the ITWG-AnGR and the ITWG-PGR. They also addressed "other matters," including agreeing to hold CGRFA-13 in Rome, Italy, in the third or fourth quarter of 2009. Delegates then concluded their deliberations over the draft Interlaken Declaration on AnGR, under the chairmanship of François Pythoud, Head of International Sustainable Agriculture Section, Federal Office of Agriculture (Switzerland). The closing plenary session convened at 8:30 pm, with delegates working through the draft meeting report section by section. After closing statements from representatives for the regional groups and others, Chair Visser closed the meeting at 12:36 am.
