The eighth Trondheim Conference on Biodiversity focused on the interlinkages between biodiversity and agriculture to develop food systems for a sustainable future. Regarding these interlinkages, participants discussed the imperatives and implications, policies and institutions, planning for a changing climate, and changing practices regarding these interlinkages. A Co-Chairs’ report of the Conference, titled “Food systems for a sustainable future: interlinkages between biodiversity and agriculture,” which captures the key messages arising from the Conference, will be transmitted to the Convention on Biodiversity’s 13th Conference of the Parties (CBD COP 13). Hosted by the Norwegian Government, in partnership with the CBD, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the World Bank, the Conference hosted some 304 experts from governments, including from the environment and agricultural sectors, relevant UN agencies, and international and non-governmental organizations. |
