The Lisbon Workshop on Blue Natural Capital took place from 3-4 October in Lisbon, Portugal, at the Lisbon Ocean Aquarium (Oceanário de Lisboa). The Workshop was sponsored by Oceano Azul Foundation.
The two-day conference:
- explored how to mainstream Blue Natural Capital (BNC) in economic science, corporate accounting, ecosystem management, and policy and international processes; and
- highlighted case studies on valuing BNC and its use in conservation strategies, revenue models and business cases for sustainable ocean economy.
The Workshop was attended by approximately 30 participants, including academics, economists, conservationists, and civil society. The workshop gathered inputs on strategies aimed at doubling BNC stock by 2050.
