Highlights for Friday, 31 October 2008


 

Friday’s Plenary agreed to include tributyltin compounds in Annex III of the Convention. COP 4 also adopted: a programme of work and budget for the triennium 2009-11; decisions on implementation; and recommendations of the Ad Hoc Joint Working Group on Enhancing Cooperation and Coordination among the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions (AHJWG); but could not agree on the inclusion of endosulfan or chrysotile asbestos in Annex III, or on a mechanism to address cases of non-compliance.
