IISD Reporting Services - Stockholm Convention on POPs

On Tuesday, POPRC-12 participants convened for the second day of the meeting. In the morning, members began consideration of the draft risk management evaluation on short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs); discussed the additional information on decaBDE submitted intersessionally to strengthen the POPRC’s recommendation to the COP to list the substance in Annex A; and addressed the process for the evaluation and review of brominated diphenyl ethers listed in the Stockholm Convention.

In the afternoon, POPRC-12 addressed unintentional releases of HCBD and considered the consolidated guidance on alternatives to perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) and its related chemicals.

In the late afternoon and evening, contact groups met to discuss the Committee’s work on SCCPs and PFOA.

IISD Reporting Services, through its ENB Meeting Coverage, has provided daily web updates from POPRC-12. In addition, IISD Reporting Services has produced a summary and analysis report from the meeting, which is available in HTML and PDF.
