The Bonn Climate Change Conference will convene from 6-17 November 2017, in Bonn, Germany, under the Presidency of Fiji. At this session the 23rd Conference of the Parties (COP 23) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the 13th Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 13), and the second session of the first Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA 1-2) will take place. The 47th sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 47) and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 47), and the fourth meeting of the first session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Paris Agreement (APA 1-4) will also convene.

Over 200 side events will be held during the meeting. These events and exhibitions will take place in the “Bonn Zone”, turning it onto a major hub for showcasing climate action, knowledge-sharing, capacity-building and networking. As introduced after the adoption of the Paris Agreement, the official side events will be organized under the theme ‘Accelerating implementation of the Paris Agreement,’ comprising three categories. ‘Enhancing ambition’ will focus on any issues that will help increase ambition prior to 2020; ‘Promoting implementation’ will showcase climate change actions, global stocktaking and methodologies; and ‘Providing support to developing countries’ will consider means of implementation, replicable tools and approaches.
