Highlights for Friday, 6 June 2014
Members of the UNFCCC Secretariat, and the COP 19 and COP 20 Presidency teams

The Bonn Climate Change Conference of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) continued on Friday, 6 June. A high-level ministerial dialogue on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action took place throughout the day, providing ministers with the opportunity to discuss: implementation of pledges made, encouraging new pledges and unlocking mitigation potential pre-2020; views on the political implications of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) findings for both mitigation and adaptation; building confidence and momentum behind the process of preparations of fair and ambitious intended nationally determined contributions; and political guidance and support for the work of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP).

The first part of the third meeting of the structured expert dialogue (SED 3) on the 2013-2015 Review took place in the afternoon. SED 3 “set the scene” considering issues, such as: findings and approaches of the AR5 WGII relevant to the 2013–2015 review; human interference with the climate system in view of a long-term global goal; and observed global and regional impacts, projected key risks, and potential for adaptation.

A number of informal consultations and contact groups under the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) also took place. In the evening, the opening session of the SBSTA plenary resumed to hear opening statements.
