our Futures: FAO/Netherlands Conference on the Multifunctional
Character of Agriculture and Land

Participants spent the
day on field excursions visiting various project sites in the region.
After the field trips, the conference participants attended a dinner
hosted by the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Management and
Fisheries.
One
group's field trip began with a visit to headquarters of the the
"Roer en Overmass" Waterboard. Waterboards are elected,
municipal-level bodies responsible for the management of floods
and soil erosion.
Participants
witnessing first-hand the work of the Waterboard.
Participants also had the opportunity to talk with a local farmer
about the area's water management plan.
Case
studies were presented to the group in the afternoon.
