Thursday, 7 June 2012
The seventh Asia Clean Energy Forum convened on Thursday, 7 June 2012, for a second day in Manila, the Philippines. In the morning, participants first convened for an opening plenary session on financing sustainability and enabling profitability: public and private perspectives. Participants then split into four breakout sessions on: up-scaling micro-enterprises; carbon capture and storage; development and implementation of clean energy in the Philippines; and strategies for financing small-scale solar power plants.
In the afternoon, eight breakout sessions were held. Under the theme "energy for all", sessions were held on business solutions for promoting energy access, and on clean cooking solutions for the poor. The technology sessions heard presentations on quantum leaps in wind power, and on technology developments and application for bioenergy in Asia. Participants in the policy and regulation sessions discussed ADB’s knowledge and innovation-based support to China’s clean energy development, and then business opportunities in ADB’s energy sector. The finance and investment theme considered raising funds and matching financing with projects, and managing risk in clean energy projects.
In the evening, participants attended a reception hosted by USAID.
ENB Summary of the meeting in English now available (in HTML and in PDF format).
