Jorge Miguel Samek ressaltou a importância de aumentar a produção energética de uma maneira sustentável. Kandeh Yumkella, Diretor-Geral da ONUDI, destacou futura colaboração com Brasil. Ele disse que a estratégia regional é muito importante, e anunciou que o próximo fórum provavelmente será sediado no México. Ubirajara Meira, Eletrobrás, enfatizou a necessidade de reduzir o uso de combustíveis fósseis e de mudar profundamente o comportamento das sociedades, especial no mundo desenvolvido. O fórum encerrou às 11h58.

A mesa redonda 7, “Cenários financeiros para a energia renovável,” foi moderada por Ubirajara Meira, Eletrobrás, Brasil. Luis Enrique Berrizbeitia, Vice-Presidente da Corporação Andina de Fomento (CAF), descreveu a evolução e o desenvolvimento da energia renovável na América Latina e ressaltou os tipos de mecanismos de financiamento para energias renováveis, incluindo programas de governo, capitais privados, e o mecanismo de desenvolvimento limpo (MDL). Michel Bachelier, Chefe do Trellis Capital Ltda, salientou a emergência de atores financeiros dedicados à indústria renovável e identificou elementos financeiros, incluindo o risco da dívida estrangeira, a sensibilidade às taxas de juros e o risco político. Steve Dore, Director Geral dos Serviços Internacionais da Inovação Ltdas, Reino Unido, destacou a energia renovável como uma plataforma para o crescimento econômico, explicando o exemplo da Shellafield, no Reino Unido. Debashish Majumdar, Presidente da Energia Renovável Indiana, Agência de Desenvolvimento Ltda (IREDA), ressaltou a importância de políticas estáveis e de longo prazo para promover energias renováveis, destacando o sistema de tarifas fixas (feed-in tariffs) e enfatizou que a energia renovável fornece um seguro em relação às futuras mudanças nos preços da energia.
