“…The twisted reality is that it often seems more profitable to businesses to degrade biodiversity than to protect it… The Report shows that business as usual is not inevitable – with the right policies, as well as financial and cultural shifts, what is good for nature is also what is best for profitability.” Delegates adopted the IPBES Business and Biodiversity Assessment and its Summary for Policymakers, which addresses the impact and dependence of business on biodiversity.
UNEA-6 and OECPR-6
Under the theme “Effective, inclusive and sustainable multilateral actions to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution,” delegates adopted 15 resolutions, two decisions, and a Ministerial Declaration, covering topics including the highly hazardous pesticides, sustainable lifestyles, sand and dust storms, and environmental recovery in areas affected by armed conflict.
