Bernard Soubry's research explores the intersection of climate mitigation and adaptation, food systems, and resilient cities. As a policy advisor for IISD's Canada Energy team, he led work on climate finance and ending fossil fuel subsidies in Canada. He holds an M.Phil and D.Phil in climate change from the University of Oxford. A writer and team leader for the Earth Negotiations Bulletin since 2018, he has covered negotiations in climate, biodiversity, migratory species, and atmospheric pollutants. His work as a reporter and climate policy consultant has been covered in national and international media, and he continues to offer freelance services in climate-related research and writing.

Outside his daily work, he is a sought-after musician for traditional Irish, New England, and Québécois dances. He calls Montréal home.
