David Sussman (Dr.)

Writer

David Sussman is a Writer with the Earth Negotiations Bulletin. He also teaches in the International Studies Department at Tokai University, and is a Fellow at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies.

A former lecturer at Tufts University, his areas of expertise include sustainability, climate-induced displacement, and natural resource conflicts. His published work includes writing on climate change impacts in Japan, and an examination of the struggle by local populations in Peru as they face powerful global mining corporations. Previous programmatic and consulting experience includes time with various UN agencies, the US government, the World Bank, and the International Rescue Committee.

With ENB since 2017, David’s work with IISD has focused on the themes of circular economy and energy. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Dartmouth (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa), and a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. from the Fletcher School (Tufts University).

David grew up in western Massachusetts, is the oldest of four children, and loves playing soccer as often as possible.
