Emma Vovk joined the Earth Negotiations Bulletin as a Writer in 2023. She focuses on the governance and science-policy interface impacting biodiversity and livelihoods, with past work and research delving into wildlife trade, fisheries and marine spatial planning.

She has worked with a number of intergovernmental organisations and conventions, including IUCN, UNEP-WCMC, CITES and Ramsar. Now based in Paris, she is an independent consultant on biodiversity and sustainable use policies, environmental education and communications.

Emma holds a MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management (University of Oxford), a BSc Hons in Ecological and Environmental Science (University of Edinburgh), speaks English, French and Spanish, and is attempting to re-learn Arabic.

When she’s not writing, you can find her halfway up a mountain with no idea how to get back down.
