Kaspar Sollberger is a policy analyst, environmental lawyer, and freelance consultant with a broad experience in national and international matters relating to climate change, energy, biodiversity, and biotechnology. Since 2016, his main role is in climate change policy at the New South Wales Department of Planning, Industry and Environment in Sydney, Australia, which he joined after 10 years with the Federal Office for the Environment in Bern, Switzerland.

With Earth Negotiations Bulletin since 2019, Kaspar has an interest in biodiversity as well as access to genetic resources and benefit-sharing – as covered in the Nagoya Protocol – from many years as a negotiator, contact group co-chair and compliance committee chair.

Kaspar has a Master’s Degree in Law (Universities of Fribourg/Montpellier), a LLM Environmental Law (University of Sydney) and a Ph.D in Environmental/Transport Law (University of Fribourg).

Kaspar is a Swiss and Australian national. He enjoys the outdoors with his family and loves his bike rides, runs and swims in and around Sydney.
