Vijay Kolinjivadi (Dr.)

Vijay Kolinjivadi is a Team Leader and Writer with Earth Negotiations Bulletin, as well as a post-doctoral Fellow at the Institute of Development Policy (IOB) of the University of Antwerp. He is a U.S. national and has focused on assessing biodiversity and ecosystem service-based policies, especially ""payments for ecosystem services"" for the better part of a decade.
Vijay's academic research and journalism focuses on the intersections of political ecology and ecological economics of climate and biodiversity-related policies in order to better understand how historical and asymmetrical relations of power influence the ecological and social justice of climate and biodiversity-related policies on the ground, to ensure no one is left behind. Vijay is also on the executive board of the Canadian Society of Ecological Economics (CANSEE).
With ENB since 2015, Vijay has followed side events to the CBD Conference of the Parties, the International Tropical Timber Organization, UNECA's Africa Regional Forum for Sustainable Development, and other processes and negotiations related to biodiversity. He has a BSc. in Ecology (University of Edinburgh), MSc. in environmental policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and Ph.D in Ecological Economics at McGill University. He is fluent in English, French, Spanish, and Tamil.
