Wiene Andriyana has been a writer with Earth Negotiations Bulletin since 2019. Her academic background is in forestry and natural resource governance, with trainings in different aspects of project management and communications/knowledge management. She has worked for years with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Indonesia managing various biodiversity conservation projects under the Global Environment Facilities (GEF) scheme. Some of her flagship projects are Combatting Illegal Wildlife Trade, Sumatran Tiger Conservation, Enhancing Protected Area System in Sulawesi, and Mangrove for the Future.
Currently she works on a consultancy basis as a forest biodiversity and management expert for UNDP Indonesia, supporting preparation and implementation of several UNDP-GEF projects on biodiversity portfolio. She is also part of the editorial team for the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) Indonesia since 2010. Wiene has Bachelor’s Degree in forestry (Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia), Master of Forestry (Australian National University, Canberra), and Doctoral Degree in Natural Resources and Life Sciences (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna). She is of Indonesian nationality and currently resided in Ottawa, Canada.
