The World WantThe High-Level Consultation on Hunger, Food Security and Nutrition opened Thursday morning, 4 April 2013 in Madrid, Spain, to conclude discussions held over the last several months between Member States, non-governmental organizations and civil society on a vision for, and priority areas and building blocks related to, food security and nutrition in the post-2015 development agenda. The meeting forms part of the Global Thematic Consultations, which will inform the design of the Post-2015 Development Agenda.

Discussions on Hunger, Food Security and Nutrition have been co-led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN and the World Food Programme, and co-hosted by the Governments of Spain and Colombia, with the objective of ensuring that food security and nutrition remain high on the post-2015 development agenda, and incorporating recent initiatives that provide recommendations towards turning the vision of ending hunger into a reality.

The consultations have aimed to: discuss ways of addressing food and nutrition security in sustainable development goals and objectives; inform the Member States process for the creation of sustainable development goals (SDGs); examine how an SDG agenda can drive actions that enables all people to have access to safe, sufficient and nutritious food and recommend healthy feeding practices; share and build upon lessons learnt from country action and the One-UN approach; and pay particular attention to the MDG Achievement Fund. Concluding these consultations and discussing the findings are the main objectives of the High-Level meeting in Madrid.

A summary of the High-Level Consultation on Hunger, Food Security and Nutrition will be available on this webpage on 7 April 2013. For more background about the meeting and for information about the outcomes of the consultations, visit the World We Want - website at:
