UNEP LAUNCHES FRENCH WEBSITE
The United Nations Environment Programme has launched a French version of

THE LITTLE GREEN DATA BOOK 2003
(World Bank, 2003) The fourth
edition of the World Bank's Little Green Data Book provides a quick
reference to key environmental data for over 200 countries. It contains
country, regional and income group profiles, which provide a baseline for
comparison on the state of the environment and its linkages with the
economy and people. The book is available at:

WORLD DEVELOPMENT INDICATORS 2003
(World Bank,
2003) World Development Indicators 2003 is a detailed collection of data
from international and national statistics agencies that tracks the
progress of poor countries toward reaching the UN Millennium Development
Goals (MDGs). The goals, agreed by the world leaders at the Millennium
Summit in 2000, aim to reduce income poverty by 2015 and spur big
improvements in education, gender equality, health care, and in overcoming
hunger and environmental degradation. The 400-page print edition allows
users to consult 600 indicators for 152 economies and 14 country groups in
more than 87 tables. A current overview of the most recent data available,
as well as important regional data and income group analysis are presented
in six thematic chapters: World View, People, Environment, Economy, States

IUCN REGIONAL OFFICE FOR EUROPE WEBSITE
IUCN-The World Conservation Union Regional

WORLD AGRICULTURE: TOWARDS 2015-2030 – AN
FAO PERSPECTIVE
(Earthscan
2003) The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has
published its latest global assessment of the long-term outlook for food
and agriculture. It updates the last FAO assessment made in 1995.
The projections, covering 140 countries and 32
crop and livestock
commodities, analyze supply and demand for the major agricultural
commodities and sectors, including fisheries and forestry. The final

UNICEF 2002 ANNUAL REPORT
The 2002 UNICEF Annual Report
summarizes major trends affecting children worldwide and outlines the
results secured by UNICEF and its partners. The first section describes
issues, challenges, goals and the work of UNICEF's headquarters, 126
country offices and 37 National Committees. The second section details
UNICEF's finances, resources and management, including a summary of
contributions, income and expenditures. A full version of the report can

GEF 2002 ANNUAL REPORT
(GEF, 2003) The Global Environment Facility
(GEF) has recently released its draft text of the GEF 2002 Annual Report:
A Year of Renewed Commitment to Sustaining the Earth. The report includes
a summary of GEF contributions to the World Summit on Sustainable
Development (WSSD), new GEF projects and programmes, and financial

WORLD DEVELOPMENT REPORT 2003
(World Bank, 2003) The World Bank has recently released its World Development
Report for 2003, which focuses on the theme of: Sustainable Development in
a Dynamic World. Now in its 25th edition, this year's report examines the
relationship between competing policy objectives of reducing poverty,
maintaining growth, improving social cohesion, and protecting the
environment over a 50 year time period. It also reviews institutional
progress and stresses that ensuring economic growth and improved
management of the planet's ecosystem requires a reduction in poverty and
inequality at all levels: local, national, and international. More

UNEP ENVIRONMENTAL REPORT ON PALESTINIAN
TERRITORIES
UNEP has recently
published a desk study on the state of the environment in the Palestinian Territories.
The Desk Study
team, comprised of eight impartial environmental experts under the
chairmanship of former Finnish Environment and Development Cooperation
Minister Pekka Haavisto, visited the region from 1-11 October 2002. The
report carries recommendations on improving the environment that will
benefit the territories and the region as a whole and will be discussed by
environment ministers attending UNEP's 22nd Governing Council, which runs
from3-7 February at UNEP Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

IUCN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CD
The IUCN Sustainable Use Team recently
produced a new CD containing over 50 technical papers relating to
sustainable use of wild living natural resources. It is the culmination of
over five years work and includes papers from Volumes I (1998), II (1999),
and III (2001) of the SUI Technical Series and six cases studies from
Lessons Learned: Case Studies in Sustainable Use (2001), which comprises
the proceedings of a workshop held to identify 'lessons learned' from case
studies of sustainable use projects. An outline of the CD's contents can

UN REPORT ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN
AFRICA
The United Nation's Department of Economic
and Social Affairs has recently published a new E-book (268 pages) on
supporting Africa's efforts to achieve sustainable development. The

The International Fund for Agricultural
