On 27 September, the Global Island Partnership (GLISPA) convened a high level event aimed at catalysing partnerships for implementation of the SDGs. During the event, the Local2030 Islands Network was launched to accelerate action on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Led by islands for islands, the Local2030 Islands Network will serve as the platform to recognize and accelerate island-led SDG implementation as part of the UN Local2030 partnership. The Local2030 Islands Network aims to catalyze local implementation of the SDGs, connecting communities with the global effort to advance the SDGs.
Founding partners and supporters of the Local2030 Islands Network include the Republic of Seychelles, Republic of Marshall Islands, Grenada, Belize, Curacao, Ireland, Hawai‘i, Guam, UN Development Programme, UN-Habitat, the Global Island Partnership, Hawai‘i Green Growth, and the UN Foundation.
