On Monday, 5 December 2016, the Sustainable Ocean Night took place in Cancun, Mexico, during CBD COP13. Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the event celebrated commitments from multiple stakeholders to achieve the Aichi Biodiversity Targets and sustainable development goals (SDGs) through ocean conservation.
