Prof. Uriel Safriel of the Institute for Desert Research of Ben-Gurion University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem presented Israel's experiences in preventing desertification and the conversion of semi-desert lands to Mediterranean landscape in areas that have 100-200 mm of rain. He invited all governments, including Israel's neighbors, to visit their research facilities.
