ARTICLE 15 -- REGIONAL IMPLEMENTATION ANNEXES:

Agreement was reached on the contents of this article, which provides guidelines for the preparation of the annexes. However, the entire article is bracketed until negotiation of the three annexes is completed.

SECTION 2: SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL COOPERATION

ARTICLE 16 -- INFORMATION COLLECTION, ANALYSIS AND EXCHANGE: Agreement was also reached on this article. The two most contentious issues were: compensation for the use of traditional and local sources of knowledge tapped; and the obligation by Parties to integrate and coordinate this process, "as appropriate." The latter was approved. Compensation for traditional and local knowledge will only be carried out subject to relevant country Party national legislation and/or policies.
