BELGIUM:

Ministre de la Sant‚ publique, de l'Environnement et de l'Int‚gration sociale Magda De Galan stressed the need for global partnerships. She said that Belgium is in the process of decentralizing environmental responsibilities and bringing decision-making to the local level. She announced that they have just set up a national institution to continue the process of coordination at the local level. There is a need to address the linkage between employment and the environment, and the ILO is the most appropriate forum in which to do this.
