URUGUAY:
Amb. Ramiro Piriz-Ballon spoke about his country's
public outreach following Rio. Funds to implement Agenda 21 should
be based on the principle of shared but differentiated
responsibility. He announced that the Ministry of the Environment,
recently restructured with assistance from the Inter-American
Development Bank, has established a technical committee with NGOs
and representatives from the agricultural sector, to coordinate
implementation of Agenda 21 at the national and provincial level.
