II. THE MECHANISMS FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

The discussion on this issue focussed primarily on the following issues: the establishment of regional or subregional organizations or agreements for the conservation and management of these species, the need for members of existing regional organizations to review their cooperation mechanisms, and the need to provide assistance to developing countries to enable them to develop their capabilities to manage these fish stocks.
