It is most likely that the Second Committee, or perhaps an ad hoc sub-group that will deal specifically with UNCED follow-up activities, will be responsible for drafting the General Assembly resolution on the future work of the Conference. This resolution will establish the dates of the 1994 sessions, and will probably call for the establishment of mechanisms that will ensure the full and effective participation of developing countries in the work of the Conference. Since the resolution will have financial implications, a statement of Programme Budget Implications (PBI) will have to be submitted to the Fifth Committee. Based on the budget for the 1993 session (A/C.5/47/78), it is estimated that additional sessions of three and two weeks in 1994 will cost approximately US$1,230,000 for conferencing services, although that figure would increase substantially if simultaneous sessions or working/expert group meetings were added.
