The 29th UN-Water Meeting will take place from 24-25 August 2018, at the City Conference Center in Stockholm, Sweden. This meeting will gather UN-Water Members and Partners to discuss issues related to UN-Water and is taking place prior to the annual World Water Week.
UN-Water coordinates the efforts of UN entities and international organizations working on water and sanitation issues. Over 30 UN agencies, programmes and other UN entities dealing with water-related issues, including sanitation and natural disasters are Members of UN-Water. The 29th UN-Water meeting will welcome the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as the newest UN-Water Member. Over 35 international organizations, professional unions, associations or other civil-society groups that are actively involved in water, international in structure and membership are Partners of UN-Water.
During the two-day meeting in August, UN-Water Members will discuss issues related to UN-Water governance. Sessions with UN-Water Members and Partners will review the discussions during the July meeting of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), which reviewed progress on Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) (clean water and sanitation).
Additional agenda items include updates on:
- the UN reform process;
- the outcome of the High Level Panel on Water “Making Every Drop Count”;
- the High Level International Conference on International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018 – 2028 and the Water Action Decade Campaign; and
- the Global call to action for WASH in healthcare facilities.
UN-Water Members and Partners will also discuss monitoring and reporting initiatives and global awareness campaigns related to water and sanitation issues.
