The 36th UN-Water Meeting will bring together representatives from UN-Water Members and Partners to advance progress on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 (clean water and sanitation).  

During the open session of the meeting, UN-Water Members, Partners with Special Status, Partners, and Observers will discuss and coordinate opportunities for their respective organizations. Agenda items include:

• preparations for the UN 2023 Water Conference;
• progress and ways to scale up country level engagement through the SDG 6 Global Acceleration Framework;
• the SDG 6 Capacity Development Initiative;
• the roadmap on human rights to water and sanitation; and
• UN-Water gender work.

In addition, an interactive session will focus on climate change and water.

The open session of the 36th UN-Water Meeting will take place at World Meteorological Organization headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, from 7-8 April 2022. On the afternoon of 8 April 2022, representatives from UN-Water Members and Partners with Special Status will convene for a closed session focused on UN-Water procedural matters.

UN-Water plays a coordinating role within the UN, to ensure that the UN family “delivers as one” in response to water-related challenges. The overarching focus of UN-Water’s Members and Partners is to support UN Member States to sustainably manage water and sanitation.
