Late on Saturday night, more than 24 hours after its originally scheduled close, the twelfth session of Working Group II (WGII-12) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded after approving the Summary for Policymakers (SPM) of the WGII contribution to the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) and accepting the underlying report.

The WGII contribution to AR6 focuses on climate change impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability, and the SPM presents key findings of WGII’s work. The SPM is structured along four sections:

  • Introduction;
  • Observed and Projected Impacts and Risks;
  • Adaptation Measures and Enabling Conditions; and
  • Climate Resilient Development.

WGII will forward the SPM to the resumed 55th session of the IPCC (IPCC-55) on Sunday morning, for the Panel to approve the actions taken by WGII.
