The panel for the interactive session on identifying emerging innovative financing opportunities to combat land degradation.

On the second day of CRIC 17, delegates concluded the interactive dialogue on gender, and then convened the final interactive session on innovative financing opportunities to combat land degradation. Following panel presentations, delegates highlighted country experiences and outlined challenges and opportunities for enhancing implementation under each theme.

In the afternoon, delegates resumed their review of progress in implementing the UNCCD Strategic Framework 2018-2030, with a focus on procedures for communication of information, as well as the quality and formats of reports to be submitted to the Conference of the Parties (COP).

The contact group on CRIC matters met to discuss the report of the meeting and identify draft decisions to be forwarded to COP 14 in October 2019. In the evening, delegates participated in a demonstration of Trends.Earth, a monitoring tool developed by Conservation International to support countries in tracking land degradation processes using the three UNCCD indicators of land productivity, land cover and soil carbon.

IISD Reporting Services, through its Earth Negotiations Bulletin (ENB) Meeting Coverage, has provided daily web coverage and a summary and analysis report from UNCCD CRIC 17. The summary and analysis report is available in HTML and PDF.
