János Maté, Greenpeace International, made a statement during SBSTA on HFCs, noting the danger they pose due to their contribution to global warming, their cumulative toxicological impact on the environment and their injurious effect on human health. He recommended, inter alia, the following: establishing a global cap on HFC production; requesting the Multilateral Fund of the Montreal Protocol to stop funding HFC projects when there are proven and environmentally safer alternatives; and requesting the IPCC to further investigate the synergistic relationship between ozone layer depletion and global warming.
