Opening Session of UNFF13
The fourteenth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF14) will be held from 6-10 May 2019 at UN Headquarters in New York. As outlined in the Quadrennial Programme of Work of the Forum for the period 2017-2020, UNFF14, which as an odd-year session will focus on discussions on implementation, technical advice and exchange of experiences, while even-year sessions focus on policy dialogue, development and decision-making.
UNFF14 will hold technical discussions on implementation of the UN Strategic Plan for Forests 2017-2030, taking into account the review cycle of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), and the theme of the 2019 International Day of Forests, “Forests and Education.”
The Forum will also discuss:
- monitoring, assessment and reporting;
- progress on the activities and operation of the Global Forest Financing Facilitation Network and availability of resources;
- enhancing global forest policy coherence and a common international understanding of Sustainable Forest Management;
- enhanced cooperation, coordination, and engagement on forest-related issues;
- emerging issues and challenges; and
- the UNFF Trust Fund
