SUDAN:

Ahmed Yousif Mohamed mentioned that in the nine years since the Mexico City Conference there are still high mortality rates and steps should be taken to tackle this problem. The Cairo document should focus on population issues, as there is a Women's Conference in 1995 to deal with gender issues. He also stressed: the need for an economic climate conducive to development; eradication of poverty cannot take place without aid; and new and additional financial resources are necessary to implement the programme of action.
