BAHAMAS:
Having ratified the Convention, the Bahamas
recently established an environment ministry and stated its desire
to turn its territory into a sustainable development zone. The
Bahamas also conducted one of the first country studies and, in
consultation with UNEP, hopes to establish new guidelines for
implementing the Convention. Moreover, the Bahamas supports a
sub-regional approach to biodiversity issues as well as the use of
small island states as models for the sustainable use of
biodiversity.
