Parties examined scientific and technical issues affecting the phase-out and replacement of ozone depleting chemicals and substances with a high-global-warming potential in foams, fire suppressants, metered-dose inhalers, and refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pumps, and discussed Multilateral Fund replenishment.
14th Meeting of the Ad Hoc Open ended Working Group to Enhance the Functioning of the ITPGRFA Multilateral System
Although principled differences remain on most major issues, delegates saw progress on technical matters and engaged with ideas that can enable consensus on enhancing the Treaty’s Multilateral System of access and benefit-sharing, and addressing user-based payments to the its Benefit-sharing Fund.
1st Meeting of the Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG) for the Global Framework on Chemicals (GFC)
Governments and stakeholders took stock of the implementation of resolutions adopted by the 5th International Conference on Chemicals Management in 2023 and prepared for the first Global Forum on Chemicals International Conference in late 2026. Thursday’s Multi-Stakeholder Day considered cross-cutting issues and specific action for electronics, textiles, and health care.

Participants shared expectations that Germany would continue supporting the 2030 Agenda, seek out opportunities to build coalitions to accelerate SDG implementation, and support an enhanced framework beyond 2030.
