Launch of The Second Report on the State of the World’s Forest Genetic Resources
The latest edition of the report was developed through submissions of data and information on more than 2,800 species from 77 countries representing more than three-quarters of the global forest area.
20th Session of the UN FAO Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture
Delegates approved the implementation and review of Global Plans of Action and other activities on plant, animal, aquatic, forest, and microorganism and invertebrate genetic resources for food and agriculture. The Commission also launched two flagship “State of the World” reports on plant and forest genetic resources.

The third edition of the landmark report focuses on issues including on-site conservation and off-site preservation and emerging challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss.
16th Meeting of the Monaco Blue Initiative
Participants reflected on how to achieve urgent tasks—such as obtaining sufficient ratifications to enable the entry into force of the Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies under the WTO and of the Agreement on Marine Biodiversity in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction—and how to ensure these global instruments deliver on their ambitious objectives.
