The 20th edition of the Global Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum (GMGSF 20) will convene immediately prior to the Sixth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-6). Serving as the preparatory meeting for major groups and stakeholders attending the UNEA, the discussions will be organized around the UNEA-6 theme of “Effective, inclusive and sustainable multilateral actions to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.”

GMGSF 20 will build on the outcomes of preparatory global online consultations held in November 2023, as well as the UNEA-6 Regional Consultative Meetings. Similar to previous years, an informal dialogue with UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Senior Management will address key issues identified by major groups and stakeholders.

The GMGSF serves as an open platform for both accredited as well as non-accredited organizations to contribute to international environmental governance. Coordinated by the Major Groups and Facilitating Committee, it enables representatives from the nine UNEP-accredited Major Groups and Stakeholders to prepare positions, statements and inputs to the UNEA process, including formal meetings and negotiations taking place under the Assembly.

GMGSF 20 is co-organized by the European Environmental Bureau, the Major Groups Facilitating Committee, and UNEP.

The Earth Negotiations Bulletin (ENB) writers for this meeting are Wangu Mwangi and Tomilola Akanle Eni-ibukun, Ph.D. The Digital Editor is Ángeles Estrada. The Editor is Leila Mead.
