Highlights for Tuesday, 22 April 2008

Peter Paul van Dijk (Conservation International) displays the Conservation International Tropical Guide Series on Frogs of Madagascar during discussions surrounding these species in the RST working group.

	The 23rd Meeting of the Animals Committee (AC23) continued on Tuesday with participants divided into seven working groups on: the Review of Significant Trade (RST) in specimens of Appendix II species; the periodic review of animal species included in CITES' appendices; periodic review of Felidae; sturgeons; nomenclature matters; sharks; and transport of live specimens. In the late afternoon, participants convened in plenary to swiftly assess the working groups’ progress and decide on how to proceed the following day.

AC Chair Althaus, who is also Chair of the working group on RST, consults informally with interested stakeholders following the group's discussions surrounding Madagascar's frog species.
