The Global Gender Climate Alliance (GGCA) Innovation Forum continued on Sunday, 13 November 2016, on the sidelines of the 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) (COP 22) in Marrakech, Morocco.
The second day of the GGCA Innovation Forum began with a morning plenary session, which addressed “From Words to Action: Is it possible?” This was followed by a “Lightning Talks: Gender at the Cutting Edge” that built on the “Skills-Share” workshops from the previous day’s Forum, during which participants received brief presentations on a number of topics, followed by group discussion. Some of the main themes included: networking and advocacy of women human rights defenders; community-based adaptation strategies in rural communities; and how to break patriarchal barriers for gender-sensitive climate change initiatives.
The Forum closed with a high-level panel addressing, “A Dialogue from Advocate to Activist,” moderated by, Mary Robinson, President of Mary Robinson Foundation. Forum Moderator Bridget Burns, Women's Environment and Development Organization, thanked participants for coming to the inaugural GGCA Innovation Forum, urging them to continue the discussions and the progress made. |
