SDG 2 The High-Level Roundtables on Climate Action for Zero Hunger took place on 11 November 2017, in Bonn, Germany, on the sidelines of the 23rd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 23) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). They were organized by the: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO); International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA); Partnership on Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SLOCAT); Paris Process on Mobility and Climate (PPMC); World Bank; Centre for International Forest Research (CIFOR); United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); World Wildlife Fund (WWF); International Union for Conservation for Nature (IUCN); Research for Community Access Partnership (ReCAP); Global Resilience Partnership (GRP); and UN Environment.

The event included high-level opening and closing plenaries with heads of state, ministers and other high-level representatives. The event also included four round tables on: addressing climate change for a world free of hunger, malnutrition and poverty; food security and nutrition in SIDS in a changing climate; integrated landscapes for improved food security and nutrition; and climate resilient and low-emissions food systems.

Presenters emphasized the intrinsic linkages between meeting climate change goals and ending hunger goals (SDG 2), as well as the linkages between food security and health, development, ecosystem services, forestry and poverty. Many identified the challenges faced by SIDS in the context of climate change. Other topics addressed included uncertainty of climate impacts on food systems, exploring opportunities and requirements for reducing food insecurity and malnutrition, climate-resilient food systems, rural transport networks and low carbon agricultural production.

IISD Reporting Services, provided web coverage and a summary report from the High-Level Roundtables on Climate Action and Zero Hunger.
