The International Conference on Climate Action, to be held in Heidelberg, Germany, on 22 and 23 May 2019, will bring together members of national and subnational governments as well as representatives of international organisations, initiatives, and networks who will discuss how vertical and horizontal cooperation can strengthen climate mitigation and adaptation activities. ICCA2019 is intended to serve as a milestone in the preparation of deliverables for the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Action Summit which will take place in September 2019.
The conference will offer a dialogue-centred programme with three plenary sessions and several parallel workshops, including on topics such as: energy transition, mobility, resilience and adaptation, production and consumption, blended finance, opportunities for national governments to foster local climate action, and citizen participation in multi-level climate planning.
ICCA2019 is complemented by a comprehensive supporting program which features events such as a Youth Climate Summit, a meeting of the Under2Coalition, field trips to local climate protection projects in the region, a Climate Neighbourhoods event under the motto “Let’s scale up solutions!” and a ceremony for the Impact Hub’s Better Together Award.
The conference is jointly organised by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety, the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg, and the City of Heidelberg.
