Highlights for Wednesday, 16 October 2013
IPCC-37
During the third day of the 37th session of the IPCC, held in Batumi, Georgia, the Panel addressed progress reports by the Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (TFI), on the IPCC Scholarship Programme, and on the contribution of the IPCC's three Working Groups to its Fifth Assessment Report (AR5).

Most of the day’s discussions focused on the draft terms of reference for a Task Group to address the future of the IPCC, which were developed by a small open-ended group throughout the morning and discussed in the afternoon. Participants considered the composition of the Task Group, debating whether to identify a core membership for practical organizational purposes and to ensure regional balance, while acknowledging the Group's open-ended nature. The Panel also discussed the implementation of the IPCC Conflict of Interest Policy and procedural matters.

On the agenda for the remainder of the session are the review of the 2013 Revised Supplementary Methods and Good Practice Guidance arising from the Kyoto Protocol related to land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) and the IPCC programme and budget.
.
Participants raise their flags to join the Task Group on the Future of the IPCC. Practically all countries signed up as active participants in the discussions of the group.
